September 11, 2023 My Darling Doug is Gone
My dear Family and Friends,
Yesterday, Doug joined his Dad and Nadine and together they are watching over us. He fought every battle and eventually God took him so he does not have to suffer anymore. it leaves me with a HOLE in my HEART as I write to all of you.
However, I had the best conversation with him the night before as he said like his Dad "NEVER SURRENDER" and we bid Goodbye with BESITOS and we'll talk tomorrow. But tomorrow NEVER CAME and I am SAD and lonely especially in the evening as he called me every night for 10 years since Ed passed away. He filled me with his fighting spirit and we should emulate his bravery as he faced so many health challenges but overcame them everytime like a MIRACLE!
Now WE MUST BE STRONG as we continue our journey knowing he has imbued in us so many values of kindness, generosity and exceptionalism as he triumphed in everything he did in spite of his condition and NEVER COMPLAINED always listening and encouraging others; he will remain in my mind and ❤ FOREVER!
Doug is GONE BUT HIS SPIRIT LIVES ON IN ALL OF US!
I will dedicate the documentary; "TAKING FLIGHT: THE NADINE RAMSEY STORY" to Doug who worked with us in the creation of the book and with Vanilla Fire production in the making of the film.
Here is a photo of Doug with the Ramirez family and the Vanilla Fire team during the Premiere of NEVER SURRENDER on Nov 13, 2016 at the Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance in LA.
Love and prayers, Raqui

June 28, 2023 10th Anniversary of Ed's Celebration of Life at Arlington National Cemetery
Death Leaves a Heartache No One Can Heal But Love Leaves a Memory No One can Steal
That is the sentiment I feel as I remember that unforgettable day when My LOVE WAS GONE FROM ME; The RAINBOW came and I knew He was with me FOREVER!
So I chose to remember his valor and sacrifice through the photos below as he fought in WWII leading the Last Cavalry Mounted Charge in U.S. Army History and as Commander of the East Central Luzon Guerilla Area (ECLGA) and together with other American Guerillas received the Distinguished Service Cross from Gen Douglas MacArthur on June 13, 1945 amid the devastation in Manila.
I also chose this Song "FROM LES MISERABLE" from Colm Wilkinson.
BRING HIM HOME
God on High Hear My Prayer In My need You have always been there He is young He's afraid Let Him Rest Heaven Blessed Bring Him Home Bring him home Bring him home He's like the son I might have known If God had granted me a son The summers die One by One How soon they fly On and On
And I am old And will be gone Bring him peace Bring him joy He is Young He is only a boy You can take You can give Let him be Let him Live If I Die let me Die let him Live Bring Him Home Bring Him Home Bring Him Home
Thanks for holding me through the years Giving me Strength and Hope and Love and as Ed looks from above I know I can continue my journey because you are all there beside me...
Love and prayers, RAQUI

May 24, 2023 My Tribute and Remembrance of Admiral Lee Levenson
A Tall impressive handsome Man in his Navy uniform, quiet and reserved at first but so engaging when he got to know you well. His wife, Roz, a gorgeous lady with impeccable taste, A CLASS ACT! We became delightful friends and then they left the Philippines. We first met at the U.S. Embassy Ball for the USO where I emceed the show after Eddie Mercado had to leave for another assignment. We became very close friends since that day. We reconnected again when the U.S. Cavalry made a Sentimental Trip to Bataan and Corregidor in 1990. I saw three tall handsome Navy officers approaching us while Ed was describing the areas of Subic Bay and Admiral Levenson said nothing. Then Ed noticed Lee standing beside him and said, “You let me describe the areas of Subic Bay where you were the Commander of the Naval Base!” Lee then uttered “You were doing fine, Ed” and that friendship flourished through more than 40 years. All the times we celebrated our anniversary and Christmas at the Hale Koa Hotel on Waikiki Beach In Honolulu, HI, Lee and Roz were there raising their glasses for a toast for more than 20 years and would always dance the night away. We had so many birthday celebrations and dinner parties at hotels and their home in La Jolla, CA and we laughed and enjoyed special times together; They became a FAMILY! Then on March 7, 2013, I lost Ed, and we buried him at Arlington National Cemetery on June 28, 2013. Lee and Roz were beside me giving me solace and comfort on the toughest day of my life. Now, we say GOODBYE to Lee as he is buried at Arlington National Cemetery joining Ed and his fellow comrades. However, Lee will always be with us just like he was all those days we spent together, laughing and dancing and having a grand time. We’ll meet again at Heaven’s Gate! FAREWELL MY ADMIRAL, I SALUTE YOU! Love and prayers, RAQUI

March 7, 2023 Ed's Tenth Anniversary
Dear Family and Friends,
Ten Years ago, I lost the LOVE OF MY LIFE, My husband, Col. Edwin P. Ramsey, 26th Cavalry PS. But he is never Far Away from ME, He Lives in My Heart and Mind, all The Time.
So I chose this Poem to Remember Him:
I Heard Your Voice in the Wind Today
I heard your voice in the wind today and I turned to see your face; The warmth of the wind caressed me as I stood silently in place.
I felt your touch in the sun today as its warmth filled the sky; I closed my eyes for your embrace and my spirit soared high.
I saw your eyes in the window pane as I watched the falling rain; It seemed as each raindrop fell it quietly said your name.
I held you close in my heart today it made me feel complete; You may have died...but you are not gone you will always be a part of me.
As long as the sun shines the wind blows... the rain falls... You will live on inside of me forever for that is all my heart knows.
- Unknown
I also want to quote these lines from Admiral Lee and Roz Levenson. "There is a saying that as you travel through life, you make many acquaintances but few friends. Ed WAS A TRUE FRIEND and We will Cherish his Friendship Forever."
I also want to quote Ed from the documentary: "NEVER SURRENDER: THE ED RAMSEY STORY" By Vanilla Fire Productions which Premiered on Nov 13, 2016 at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Museum of Tolerance. In a letter to his mother, Nelle and his sister, Nadine; Ed wrote" It is either the war ends, or I die fighting, Because I WILL NEVER SURRENDER!"
I also want to Remember "SHAKE THE HAND OF A NATIONAL HERO" Event at the BH Peninsula Hotel by the PenFed Foundation on Nov, 27, 2012. Here are some photos below with BG Dave and Ellyn Snowden, Chief of Police of BH and Military Officers of all branches of the Armed Forces and Civic Leaders. It was the last military event he attended, as he passed away in 2013.
Thanks for your love and prayers, RAQUI❤
